NEW MONTETM  PURIFICATION SYSTEM

New MonteTM Purification is Lutros's system for pretreating feedstock oils used to produce renewable fuel.

Key Benefits

  • 99%+ yield

  • Total metals at 0-5 ppm

  • Phosphorous at 0-2 ppm

  • No centrifuge

  • No adsorbent powder

  • Water savings

  • Simple operation

Concept

Lutros conceived of New MonteTM Purification during a study to re-purpose and re-commission a twentieth-century oil processing plant. As we considered the necessary equipment for successful purification as pretreatment, we quickly moved to a new idea for simplifying the entire process–without the need for centrifuges, adsorbent powders, or industrial-sized filters. The result is New MonteTM Purification.

New MonteTM leverages the relative buoyancy of oil to water along with precision application of temperature, pressure, and catalysts to eliminate contaminants in a reactive countercurrent extraction process.  Untreated feedstock enters the system at the bottom, while clean water enters at the top. As the feedstock oil rises, contaminants fall with the water wash, and purified oil emerges at the top of the system.

Performance

New MonteTM Purification delivers powerful results. Across the range of commercially considered feedstocks, including high-phosphorous soybean oil, beef tallow, used cooking oil, and low-grade poultry fat, among others, New MonteTM successfully purifies feedstocks in a continuous process to eliminate contaminants with improved yield compared to conventional pretreatment systems.
