PAR PACIFIC’S NEW MONTETM SYSTEM
In 2024, after following and touring the New MonteTM pilot plant project in Chattanooga, Par Pacific began working with Lutros to plan and install the first commercial New MonteTM process as part of its project to expand its Hawaii refinery.
The Hawaii installation was designed to purify 5,000 bpd of oil and to meet the specifications for Par Pacific’s renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel refinery.
Par Pacific completed construction in the summer of 2025, and production began in late summer. First production runs successfully processed a canola oil feedstock at a rate of 5,000 bpd with resultant purified oil at less than 1 ppm phosphorous and 2 ppm total metals.
As Par Pacific completes the expansion of its refinery, it looks forward to purifying more complicated feedstocks for its renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel production.
